While associating an Activity (e-mail, Phone Call) with the Case entity, the
"New" button in the lookup window is greyed out.
What can I do to change this??
This is horribly inconvenient, i need to write a training doc and this
introduces several extra steps to a process that is already built in to the
system.

As far as I know, there is no way to overwrite this. It is not a
permissions problem either. Perhaps someone from Microsoft will see
this and chime in with a reason why.
